About The Transcriptionist

Type the DNA code into RNA one base at a time in this free online transcription typing game about the central dogma.

The Transcriptionist is a free online DNA to RNA game where you transcribe genetic code one base at a time at typing speed. This molecular biology game drills the central dogma step that turns genes into messages.

Transcription copies DNA into RNA by base pairing. RNA polymerase reads the template strand and writes the complementary messenger: A pairs with U, T with A, C with G, G with C. Uracil replacing thymine is the classic exam trap and exactly the keystroke the game punishes.

Speed matters more than you think. Polymerases transcribe dozens of bases per second while proofreading on the fly and errors become flawed proteins. The promoter starts the job, the terminator ends it and everything between is the skill you are drilling: accurate complementary copying, the single most repeated operation in molecular biology.
