Pheromone Highway is a free online ant colony game where you lay chemical recruitment trails to guide foragers and spray alarm repellents to divert traffic. This swarm intelligence game simulates stigmergy, coordination with no leader at all.

Ants solve routing problems chemically. A forager that finds food walks home laying pheromone, followers reinforce the best routes and evaporation prunes the weak ones. No ant knows the map, yet the colony converges on shortest paths, a distributed optimization called stigmergy where the environment itself is the memory.
